Until recently I've been using the auto-focus feature found in the shutter release button. You know the one, when holding down the shutter half-way the camera focuses. I really enjoy both Single Servo and Continous modes, and now I've found a way to have them both at the same time without having to stop and switch the lever found in front of the camera.
First, turn off the shutter button control for auto-focus (inside your camera's menu), now you are in total control of the auto focus mode with the use of your thumb. The right thumb is just sitting there on the back of the camera as you shoot, so why not put it to use by having it control the AF-ON switch? (see the above photo) As you hold it down the camera is in Continuous Mode, when you release the button it's like having it in Single Servo mode.
Leave the switch in front on "C" when doing this. (see above photo)
Have fun and let me know how it works for you!
