If you haven't made plans for 2007 then it's time to go over to Starbucks, or where ever you like, and do some thinking.
Tax time is right around the corner, so put into motion the steps necessary to get to your accountant as soon as possible before April 15th. If you find out you owe a lot of money you're going to want to know today, rather than April 14th (when it's due the next day.)
You're accountant will also help you decide whether or not it's time to incorporate or stay as a sole proprietor.
How about insurance? Did you know that if you use your camera gear for paid jobs that most homeowners, renters, and personal article policies will not cover your stuff if something happens to it. That's bad news, so talk to your insurance agent about a commercial articles policy (sometimes called a Commercial Inland Marine policy [nothing to do with water]). And, how about liability insurance? Do you have any? At the small price of a few hundred dollars per year (or less) it sure beats the cost of an attorney's fee of $100-200 per hour.
It's also a great time in the year to write down some goals if you haven't already. Goals for this year and goals for the long term. Where do you want to be at the end of 2007? What do you want to achieve professionally as well as personally? Don't just think about them, write it down, review it regularly, and be specific. You are much more likely to have success with your goals if do it this way.
Many blessings to a wonderful New Year!
