Mr & Mrs Cardinal

Out back, my wife has several bird feeders. The cardinal is Ohio's state bird, and several other state birds. Anyway, I caught these two yesterday as the lone feeders this time of year.

I'm not a bird watcher, but for some reason these cardinals will hang around all winter long.

Sunday Morning

A new church has formed in my area, and they don't have a pastor yet. I was asked to provide the message yesterday. And, of course, I had to snap a historical photo for posterity. Anyway, it was great, and I really appreciated being invited.

In case you're wondering, my message came from II Samuel 24.

Injury

I'm not sure how many injuries I've had throughout my life, but two days ago I added another. Here's the list: there's been a chipped bone in the foot, chipped bone in wrist, broken collar bone, sprained ankle, and now a strained foot.

After playing basketball two nights ago at the Y, I took one last jump before leaving, only to come down on top of a ball. ...You know what happened... My foot buckled under.

No, I didn't go to the doctor because they'll just tell me it's sprained or strained - then say I should wrap it, ice it, and stay off of it. So, that's what I've been doing, and it's healing up.

Mini-dogs

Two mini-dogs paid a visit today. A couple different clients stopped by with their dogs. They're cute, but I'm not so sure about having a dog that's smaller than our smallest cat.

Yes, we have cats....well, my wife does. She's a cat lover like no other. Fortunately we have an agreement to limit the number to four in our household. Currently we're up to three. Sweetie, Muffin, and Galax. I'll post their portraits sometime.

24

He's back! The first two opening nights of 24 were amazing, and Jack Bauer was awesome, as usual! This was the first time Sarah and I watched it on television. Till now we had only seen it after checking seasons 1-5 out on DVD from our local library. I don't know if we're going to be able to handle waiting a week in between each episode.

The setup here is pretty sweet. There's no television, instead we're using a digital light projector, and our screen is the white wall. No more 32" TV screen, now it's about 6 or 7 feet!

Did Curtis make it in the last episode?

Deja Vu

Just got back in this evening from a night out with my brother-in-law, Kev. Sarah went to NY with a small group of BeautiControl consultants; it's an overnighter, so I had tonight free.

Anyway, we started out at the theater, but Deja Vu was sold out. So we went to dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Wow! what an awesome Blue Cheese Blast Hamburger, and a really fun atmosphere. Yes, I am a cheese-aholic, and some think blue cheese is absolutely disgusting, but...yeah, i think it's pretty sweet.

Afterward we went back and caught the next showing of the film. ...try and figure that movie out?! If you haven't seen it yet it's worth it. Most things Denzel Washington stars in are good movies, and this was another.

I love lifestyle photography because every shoot is different, and the clients seem more at ease to just be themselves. Thanks Sue and Scott!!

New Year Planning

If you haven't made plans for 2007 then it's time to go over to Starbucks, or where ever you like, and do some thinking.

Tax time is right around the corner, so put into motion the steps necessary to get to your accountant as soon as possible before April 15th. If you find out you owe a lot of money you're going to want to know today, rather than April 14th (when it's due the next day.)

You're accountant will also help you decide whether or not it's time to incorporate or stay as a sole proprietor.

How about insurance? Did you know that if you use your camera gear for paid jobs that most homeowners, renters, and personal article policies will not cover your stuff if something happens to it. That's bad news, so talk to your insurance agent about a commercial articles policy (sometimes called a Commercial Inland Marine policy [nothing to do with water]). And, how about liability insurance? Do you have any? At the small price of a few hundred dollars per year (or less) it sure beats the cost of an attorney's fee of $100-200 per hour.

It's also a great time in the year to write down some goals if you haven't already. Goals for this year and goals for the long term. Where do you want to be at the end of 2007? What do you want to achieve professionally as well as personally? Don't just think about them, write it down, review it regularly, and be specific. You are much more likely to have success with your goals if do it this way.

Many blessings to a wonderful New Year!
